CLARK COUNTY, Ohio (WXIX) – A veteran deputy sheriff in Ohio was killed within the line of responsibility over the weekend, in line with Clark County Sheriff Deborah Ok. Burchett.
It occurred Sunday morning after the deputy, who labored for the Clark County Sheriff’s Workplace, responded to a report of an individual shot inside a cellular dwelling in Concord Township, she stated.
The sheriff recognized the deputy as Matthew Yates, a 15-year member of the division.
Concord Township is about 40 miles northeast of Dayton, about midway to Columbus.
The Ohio Bureau of Legal Investigation is investigating the incident.
The sheriff offered extra particulars in a ready assertion late Sunday:
“At 10:51 AM this morning, the Clark County Sheriff’s Workplace acquired a 911 name reporting that an unknown feminine broke into the residence at 1132 Ashwood Dr in Concord Estates Cell House Park and fired 5 to six pictures
“When Deputies arrived on scene to research they tried to verify the inside of the residence, at which era they have been met with gunfire. Clark County Sheriff’s Workplace Deputy Matthew Yates was struck by the gunfire and went down contained in the residence. Clark County Particular Operations and several other surrounding tactical groups have been known as in and facilitated a rescue of the downed Deputy.
“Deputy Yates was flown by Careflight to Miami Valley hospital the place he succumbed to his accidents. Deputy Yates was a 15-year veteran of the Clark County Sheriff’s Workplace and was a valued member of the Particular Operations Workforce.
“At the moment there isn’t a menace to the general public. The Ohio Bureau of Legal Investigation has been known as in to research this incident and, as a consequence of this being an ongoing investigation, we won’t be taking questions at the moment. A number of legislation enforcement companies and elected officers expressed their sympathies on social media.

Congressman Warren Davidson, who represents a district between Cincinnati and Dayton that features all of Butler County and half of Hamilton County, tweeted out his condolences to Deputy Yates’ family and friends.
“My condolences and deepest sympathies for the family and friends of Clark County Deputy Matthew Yates, 15-year veteran of the pressure, who was killed by gunfire at the moment. Thanks to all our legislation enforcement who threat every thing to maintain our communities secure.”
Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley wrote: “My coronary heart goes out to the family members of Clark County Sheriff’s Deputy Matthew Yates who was killed tonight within the line of responsibility.”
