Man dies days after police shot an 18-foot boa constrictor wrapped round his neck

The Lehigh County coroner’s office mentioned Monday that 27-year-old Elliot Senseman died Sunday morning at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest. “A boa constrictor-type snake roughly 18 toes in size constricted across the neck of Mr. Senseman, thus inflicting the anoxic mind harm (full lack of oxygen to the mind),” the coroner’s workplace mentioned.

Police mentioned an officer was capable of shoot the snake’s head with out hurting Senseman, and he was given medical help and brought to the hospital. The snake died.

Higher Macungie Township police and the coroner’s workplace are investigating. Police instructed WTXF-TV that the snake was the person’s pet and several other different snake enclosures have been discovered inside the house.

Lt. Peter Nickischer mentioned Monday that investigators do not know the circumstances of the assault as a result of “the dire scenario” precluded “prolonged interviews … concerning the snake, its origin, or something alongside these strains.”

The incident marks at the very least the second snake-related fatality within the U.S. in July. Earlier this month, a 6-year-old boy died days after he was bitten by a rattlesnake whereas on a household bike journey close to Colorado Springs.
